The Building Safety Act 2022 received Royal Assent in April 2022 and is currently being brought into force in stages supplemented by regulations. The Act introduces sweeping changes to the development process and places additional obligations on those responsible for high rise residential properties all with the aim of improving health and safety and avoiding a repeat of the Grenfell Tower tragedy. The Act also extends liabilities and limitation periods and introduces new avenues for claims.
