Energy from Waste

Market leading experience advising energy from waste (EfW) project companies, sub-contractors, investors and funders working with a range of technologies.

We understand the industry’s unique challenges and opportunities, and can advise on the full range of legal requirements at various stages of development and on subsequent sale or acquisition; including the design, finance, construction, regulatory and operation of local authority and merchant facilities through to the supply and offtake of resources from waste generators and aggregators.

Members of the team have advised on the financial close of countless energy from waste plants including Gloucestershire, Avonmouth, Thameside, Ince, Welland, Northacre, Birmingham Biopower, Levenseat, and Hull with a CapEx ranging between £120m to £500m.

We regularly advise on the property arrangements for these projects and work with project developers to assess the viability of grid connection routes, negotiate rights with third party landowners, and advise on any requirements for adopting grid connecting infrastructure.

We also support our clients on the implementation of contracts by providing ongoing contract interpretation advice whilst the project is live, helping in early dispute avoidance and where necessary, acting in adjudication, arbitration and court litigation.
