Ashfords promotes Liam Tolen to partner in commercial disputes team

UK law firm Ashfords has announced the promotion of Liam Tolen to partner in its commercial disputes team, marking a significant milestone in a legal career built at the firm.

Having joined as a trainee and qualified in 2013, Liam has spent more than a decade developing a strong reputation in complex business disputes, with a particular focus on defamation and reputation management. His promotion reflects his specialist expertise, strong client relationships and commitment to the firm’s values.

Liam has acted on a number of high-profile matters across the UK and internationally, advising corporate clients and public figures on high profile disputes.

Liam's promotion is part of the firm’s wider 2025 spring promotions round, which includes the promotion of seven associates across key practice areas. The new associates are Oscar Mustard, Andrew Boxall and Deborah Cochrane in the trusts and estates team; Charlotte Borrow in the residential and rural property team; John Ebenezer in the family team; Kyle Klesniks in the employment team; and Daniel Ball in the real estate team.

The firm has also recently announced the arrival of three new partner hires including London-based Sam Brown in the corporate team, Deborah Rowntree in the banking & finance team, and Bristol-based David Varney in the commercial & IP team.
