Victims of Crime and Private Prosecutions

Our team, headed by Jeremy Asher, has many years of experience in bringing a large number of prosecutions for a number of organisations across the public and private sector and have been able to translate this experience to assist clients aiming to bring private prosecutions for a range of offences.

A private prosecution can be brought by any individual or any company with the right expressly reserved in section 6(1) Prosecution of Offences Act 1985.

We can  assist you if you are a victim of crime and frequently act in high profile cases where careful reputation management is required.

Where necessary we can also attend inquests, advise on the procedures surrounding criminal prosecutions and make representations to prosecuting authorities if required.

We can commence investigations and work with specialist former police officers to gather evidence to the correct evidential standards.

Various remedies are available depending upon the circumstances, and may include private prosecutions, Restraining Orders under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997; or defamation action.

Frequently it is quicker and cheaper to bring a private prosecution rather than rely on the civil courts.

Jeremy Asher is a leading expert in European Distribution Fraud and has assisted several victims in their quest to recover their property through the criminal justice system and works closely with the commercial litigation and dispute resolution teams.

Our team personifies Ashfords ability to look at problems in unique ways, drawing on expertise in criminal law, art law, personal injury, family, intellectual property, employment and litigation to ensure that if you are a victim of crime that you are able to have your voice heard and interests protected.
