UK law firm Ashfords has announced four partner promotions across its legal and business services divisions, effective 1 September. The latest round of promotions raises the number of partners at the firm to 74.

The partner promotions include: Samantha Newton in the family team, Anusheh Burcher in the commercial litigation team, Stephen Humphreys in the planning and energy & resource management team and Paul Brophy in the risk and compliance team.

The firm has also more than doubled its lawyer promotions this year compared to 2022, with two new legal directors, eight senior associates and 16 associates promoted across the firm’s four offices. 65% of lawyer promotions this year are female alongside an equal split of female and male partner promotions.

Commenting on the news, CEO and Partner Louise Workman, said: "It's fantastic to see so many of our people promoted this year. They all demonstrate our values around striving to be the best we can be and working as a team to make a difference for our clients. The promotions, alongside key lateral hires this year, show our focus on development and delivering the expertise and experience that our clients need and expect."

The promotions follow another successful financial year for the firm which saw it break the £50m barrier for the first time triggering a firm wide 7% bonus. The firm is part way through a five-year strategy focused on growing its core legal advisory work for commercial, real estate and private clients.

Ashfords promotions round in 2022 saw six partner promotions, six senior associate promotions and five associate promotions.

Ashfords are valued legal partners to a wide range of corporate, public and private clients across the UK and internationally; counted on by clients to get the right result whether that’s delivering commercial objectives, protecting family assets, making investments or solving disputes.
