We recognise that university is still the preferred path for some people, and it can be a really exciting next step following school or college. However, if you don’t feel university is for you or you’re looking for a more hands-on, practical learning experience, our apprenticeship programmes offer a fantastic alternative way of kick-starting a successful career.
You will have the benefit of studying towards a recognised qualification, whilst developing the inviable skills and knowledge that come with working in a professional environment, alongside individuals who are experts in their field.

Details of our vacancies are advertised on our careers page, usually in the spring of each year, ready for a September start. You’ll need to submit an online application, telling us about why an apprenticeship is the right path for you. If successful, you’ll be invited to attend an in-person interview at either our Exeter or Bristol office, depending on the role you’ve applied for.

Legal apprenticeships at Ashfords provide a great opportunity for you to gain early hands on experience and develop your professional skills in a legal environment, without incurring the cost of going to university.
We understand that committing to a long-term career straight from school or college can be daunting. This is why we offer a staged approach to our legal apprenticeships, supporting you at each step throughout your career.
If you join Ashfords on a legal apprenticeship, you will begin by completing a two year Paralegal Apprenticeship through our apprenticeship provider, BPP University.
Once you have successfully completed your end point assessment as part of your paralegal apprenticeship, we aim to be in a position to offer you a paralegal role in department, should there be a vacancy. We would also look at ways to support you to further your legal career at Ashfords, should this be the route you wish to take.
As a large firm, we can’t operate successfully without professional services functions to support us, so we have in-house teams specialising in IT, HR, Marketing, Facilities, Finance and Risk & Compliance, working alongside our lawyers to help us to deliver our business objectives.
If you like the sound of getting some hands-on experience, we may be able to offer you an apprenticeship opportunity to kick start your career! We work alongside various apprenticeship providers, including Exeter College, to deliver apprenticeship programmes that will help you to develop skills and knowledge relevant to your chosen area.
