On Wednesday 18th July 2018 the Ashfords Plymouth office hosted a charity 5-a-side football tournament at Goals Soccer Centre, Plymouth, followed by a buffet and drinks. The event raised over £900 for a local children’s charity, “Children’s Happy Hospital Fund”, which supports the Children and Young People’s Health Directorate at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth.

Twelve teams entered the event, comprising local solicitor firms, accountants and high street banks. On the night teams were separated into 3 groups and all played 3 matches for a chance to reach the semi-finals and final. The top team from each group made it through to the semi-finals, being Francis Clark Chartered Accountants, Bromhead Chartered Accountants, Bishop Fleming Chartered Accountants with the best runner up from all 3 groups also making it through, this being Thomas Westcott Chartered Accountants. After a tough semi-final stage it was Thomas Westcott and Francis Clark that made it through to the final match. Thomas Westcott were victorious, beating Francis Clark 3 – 1 to be crowned champions!

Following the tournament, the teams leisurely made their way to the bar at Goals for a drink and food. On arrival at the bar, Ashfords provided everyone at the event with a well-deserved drink-token. Chatting and socialising followed over a buffet provided by Goals Soccer Centre. The tournament winners Thomas Westcott received the winner’s trophy, individual medals and a variety of beers, ales and ciders. Francis Clark as runners-up also received individual medals for reaching the final of the tournament.

We would like to thank all of the teams who took part, for helping raise money for our chosen charity and for helping to make the evening a huge success - attendees enjoyed the competitive yet relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to network, assisted by a great 5-a-side football tournament.

The Ashfords Plymouth office is hoping to hold a similar event later in the year.
