Rio is a paralegal in the real estate team, primarily supporting real estate investment & management fee earners.
Rio has gained experience in drafting legal documents from both a landlord and tenant perspective, ranging from licences to alter to complex leases of part. Rio regularly creates Land Registry applications for registrations, in addition to SDLT returns ranging from simple transfers to complex linked transactions. Rio regularly assists commercial landlord and tenant transactions as part of the wider real estate team.
Rio studied Law with Business (LLB) at the University of Exeter. During his time at university, Rio produced multiple research papers, which included investigations into money laundering regulations in the UK housing market compared to other leading jurisdictions, and investigating potential reforms for the housing sector. This experience led to a significant appreciation for the built environment.
During his placement year at university, Rio worked at a leading commercial real estate specialist law firm. During his placement, Rio provided legal support to senior partners, which provided a foundational understanding of commercial real estate transactions. This experience ranged from supporting land registry applications to drafting correspondence for fee earners.
