Solicitor
Ben is a solicitor in the commercial team, with a focus on the energy and waste sector.
Ben advises clients on a range of non-contentious commercial services, including the establishing and management of various energy projects and any associated outsourcing requirements, such as those relating to energy from waste facilities and power purchase agreements. Within the commercial team more generally, Ben assists with various commercial agreements such as non-disclosure agreements or general terms and conditions for the supply of goods and services. Ben also has experience within the agriculture sector, assisting the team with commercial arrangements including the formation of partnership agreements.
Ben's experience at Ashfords has also seen him spend time during his training contract in the public sector team, acting for local authorities in the procurement of goods and services alongside charity grant funding arrangements. Alongside this, Ben spent 6 months in the construction and infrastructure team, acting on various construction disputes for employers, contractors and subcontractors. Prior to beginning his training contract, Ben spent 18 months as a paralegal in the real estate team, acting on both freehold and leasehold matters.
Ben joined Ashfords in 2021 after completing his LLB Law degree at the University of Bristol. Ben achieved a distinction in the Legal Practice Course with an MSc in Law, Business and Management in 2022 before undertaking his training contract, which he completed between 2022 - 2024.
Ben is a committee member of Ashfords' XYBC and is regularly involved in organising and hosting events for young professionals in the Exeter area. Alongside this, Ben manages a 6-a-side football league for local businesses in Exeter.
