Biography
Ben is a solicitor in the commercial team, with a focus on the energy and waste sector.
Ben advises clients on a range of non-contentious commercial services, including the establishing and management of various energy and infrastructure projects and any associated outsourcing requirements, such as those relating to energy from waste facilities, grid connection arrangements and power purchase agreements. Within the commercial team more generally, Ben assists with various commercial agreements such as non-disclosure agreements or general terms and conditions for the supply of goods and services. Ben also has experience within the public sector, assisting the team with commercial arrangements for the procurement of various services such as care or cleaning.
Ben joined Ashfords in 2021 as a paralegal in the firm's real estate department after completing his LLB Law degree at the University of Bristol. Ben achieved a distinction in the Legal Practice Course with an MSc in Law, Business and Management in 2022 before undertaking his training contract, which he completed between 2022 - 2024 while gaining experience in Public Sector, Disputed Wills & Trusts and Construction & Infrastructure.
Ben is a committee member of Ashfords' XYBC and is regularly involved in organising and hosting events for young professionals in the Exeter area. Alongside this, Ben manages a 6-a-side football league for local businesses in Exeter.

Assisting the team advising Viridor Group on its vendor due diligence process in connection with the sale of a substantial minority stake in Viridor Group by affiliates of KKR to Equitix.
Negotiating numerous feedstock agreements for a proposed anaerobic digestion facility.
Negotiating a power purchase agreement for a private wire arrangement for an infrastructure developer.
Preparing concession contracts for the delivery of circa 6,000 EV charge points for local authorities with funding of over £23 million.
