Hinkley - The Power of Supply Chains Breakfast

08.12.17

On 8 December 2017, Insider Media hosted a breakfast event with a panel of expert speakers answering questions from businesses keen to get involved with the Hinkley Point C supply chain.

Ashfords' Partner and Head of Energy & Waste, Ruth Murray, was on the panel of expert speakers discussing the legal aspects around making your business 'Hinkley-ready'. Ruth was joined by panellists; Claire Pearce (Sedgemoor District Council), Tim Parker (Berry & Escott Engineering), Chris Langdon (Somerset Chamber) and Jonathan Jones-Pratt (JJP Holdings).

The debate examined opportunities around the supply chain, how local suppliers and services can connect into the ecosystem the development is creating, and looked at the wider impact to communities both locally in and around Bridgwater, and across the region.

The panel discussed the impact of the major infrastructure investment into developing a new generation of skills in the region. They also covered issues on:

  • How the region can capitalise on the Hinkley opportunity in order to create a world-leading knowledge economy
  • The wider economic benefits bought to the region by the Hinkley Point C scheme
  • The ways in which businesses can engage with the supply chains
  • The impact of the South West's infrastructure investment
