Ashfords LLP’s real estate team has advised Wichelstowe LLP, one of the largest local authority joint ventures in the country, on the acquisition of further land to the south of Swindon for the provision of almost 500 new homes.
This next phase of development will complement the first phase of development which is now substantially built out and sold, and on which Ashfords also acted. The wider scheme has the potential to deliver up to 3000 homes across a 250 hectare site along with the delivery or new schools and community facilities as well as extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
Kate Topp, who leads the relationship with Wichelstowe LLP at Ashfords, commented: “we are really pleased to have assisted Wichelstowe LLP with the purchase of this further parcel of land and to have facilitated the construction of additional homes in this very popular location. Having attended the site for the sign-off meeting, it was very gratifying to see the development coming out of the ground and a new community being created.”
Daniel Pavely, Project Director at Wichelstowe commented: “The joint venture partnership has established an excellent working relationship with Ashfords over the last few years on the Wichelstowe project. The Ashfords team continue to be very proactive and have provided clear and valuable commercial advice, as well as offering a close working relationship with enduring legal support. We are looking forward to deepening our working relationship as the development progresses.”
In addition to supporting Wichelstowe LLP with the acquisition of development land, Ashfords provides ongoing advice relating to various aspects of the development process, through to the sale of homes to private purchasers.
Ashfords has significant breadth and depth of experience in the residential development sector, and acts for a variety of landowners, promoters and regional and national developers.
