18.11.15

On Monday 16 November, Ashfords Academy hosted the Institute of Directors South West (IOD SW) at the firm's Exeter office.

Associate, Kirsty Cooke joined 10 delegates from local businesses who attended a ‘Negotiation Skills’ workshop delivered by Occupational Psychologist David Kearny.

The session looked at using various strategies and proven methods of negotiation as well as addressing common hurdles to effective negotiations.

Kirsty Cooke said:

"I found the session interactive and engaging. It was interesting to see how negotiation skills varied across different business sectors. We looked at how cultural background affects negotiation styles and also coping strategies when negotiating out of our comfort zone. Overall the session was enjoyable and I have taken away some practical points that I can use in my role here at Ashfords."

This is the second workshop that Ashfords Academy have hosted in conjunction with IOD SW, and the firm will be looking to continue the relationship beyond these two pilots.
