National law firm Ashfords LLP advised Yapp Brothers on the transaction of a stake in German wine producer Reh Kendermann.

Award winning Yapp Brothers is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading importers of French regional wines and is rated as one of the 'Top Ten Wine Shops in the UK' by The Times. The company, run by Jason Yapp and Tom Ashworth, supplies many of the best restaurants in the UK encompassing over 50 Michelin stars including the Fat Duck, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw and Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons. From its base in Mere, Wiltshire, the company also runs shop, mail order and internet retail operations.

Reh Kendermann is one of the largest wine producers in Germany, including the Black Tower brand. The partnership with Yapp Brothers is part of a strategic expansion of the company's business portfolio and is intended to create a route to the on-trade market in the UK.

The Ashfords Team was led by Corporate Partner Chris Dyson, assisted by Angus Bauer, Tom Storey and Ross Van de Velde.

Chris Dyson commented: "We were delighted to work with Tom and Jason of Yapp Brothers on this new venture, which brings together prestigious wine businesses from the UK and Germany and creates new opportunities for both. The combination of Yapp Brothers' high-end reputation and supply chain and Reh Kendermann's extensive international business influence and experience make this an exciting move in the wine market."

Tom Ashworth commented: "The Yapp Brothers' team are very excited by this new stage in the company's evolution. The partnership with Reh Kendermann will help us strengthen our position in the UK and establish the brand internationally. The team at Ashfords LLP provided invaluable advice that has enabled us to secure sound investment, while we focus on the opportunities for growth."
