The Trust & Estate team help clients executing wills during lock down

“We’ve come up with practical solutions” explains Tom “The rules provide that the witnesses have to be in the presence of the signing party – they have to see the will signed, but that don't have to be immediately beside them. That can be done from more than two metres away, for example at opposite ends of a room, or in the garden - we simply have a protocol where the person signs their will and witnesses (often neighbours) then each approach and sign in turn - with their own pens of course - whilst all remaining in the presence of each other".
