The Crown Commercial Service has launched the first ever government backed construction framework which can be accessed by all public sector organisations.

The launch will be welcome news to our public sector clients who have found it difficult and expensive to procure construction contractors in the current economic climate. The framework will offer our public sector clients expedited access to a range of goods, works and services arrangements and the ability to be proactive when issues arise with existing contracts.

128 suppliers have been appointed across 31 lots with nearly half being SMEs. The new framework has been designed to ensure a level playing field for SMEs by having different contract values and regional lots. The suppliers will share up to £30 billion of public sector construction contracts across a 7-year period. There are 7 lots yet to be filled with the CCS expected to make an announcement on those lots over the next few weeks.

The framework is due to go live in December 2019.
