UK law firm Ashfords has welcomed senior associate Tara Cusack to its intellectual property (IP) team, bolstering the team's offering in trade mark disputes and in trade mark portfolio management.
Tara is qualified as a solicitor and a chartered trade mark attorney with strong trade mark disputes experience, and has extensive expertise advising on design rights, copyright and IP due diligence, including contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters.
Tara has worked in private practice and in-house, in both the UK and Australia, and has advised clients across a range of sectors including consumer products, technology, retail and other brand-focused businesses.
The team has recently been involved in helping a high-profile client, in the luxury goods sector, search and clear proposed trade marks for use and registration. On the contentious side, whilst many disputes are successfully resolved, the team has been involved in successfully defending a claim of copyright infringement in the Intellectual Property Enterprise Court, and defending a trade mark/breach of contract claim in the High Court, which included bringing a valuable counterclaim.
Tara said: "I look forward to working with my new colleagues and building strong relationships with clients at Ashfords, to understand their particular needs and help them achieve their commercial goals."
Clare Jackman, IP partner, said: "We’re delighted to welcome Tara to our IP team. Responsible brand management is as much about effective policing and enforcement, as it is about ensuring the appropriate protection is put in place to begin with. Tara’s litigation experience and UK and international trade mark expertise complement our team perfectly."
Ashfords’ IP team helps businesses protect their valuable IP assets, from global brands to growing companies, safeguarding new brands, designs and innovations in the UK and internationally. The team of experienced solicitors and chartered trade mark attorneys is known for clear, practical advice that delivers real value. The team has recently been recognised for the sixth consecutive year in the 2026 World Trademark Review 1000 rankings.
