Biography

Tara is a senior associate in the intellectual property team, specialising in trade marks.

Tara has worked in private practice and in-house in both the UK and Australia. She manages all aspects of brand protection, including clearance searching, drafting specifications, filing and prosecution, oppositions, invalidity and revocation actions, enforcement, licensing and assignments, as well as identifying gaps in protection.

She also advises on design rights, copyright and intellectual property due diligence, as well as both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters, with a particular focus on trade mark disputes, infringement and passing off.

Tara has advised clients across a range of sectors, including consumer products, technology, retail and other brand-focused businesses. She works with clients to develop pragmatic strategies for the protection, management and enforcement of their brands. Drawing on her extensive intellectual property background, she takes a commercial and holistic approach and enjoys building strong relationships with clients to understand their particular needs.

She is qualified as both a solicitor and trade mark attorney in the UK, and as a trade mark attorney in Australia, with over 20 years' experience advising on intellectual property protection and enforcement.

  • Protecting and enforcing a leading automotive brand: Acting for one of the world’s leading automotive manufacturers in the protection and enforcement of its trade marks in Europe.
  • Brand lifecycle: Advising a global gaming content and technology company (in-house) on the creation, protection and enforcement of intellectual property, particularly in relation to trade marks, domain names and copyright.
  • Consumer services: Conducting an opposition on behalf of a national regulator in a matter involving intellectual property and public safety.
  • Consumer goods: Undertaking trade mark audits for clients, including a large, well-known international fashion brand.
