UK law firm Ashfords has strengthened its infrastructure offering with the appointment of a new seven-strong market-leading projects team, led by partners Ben Hogan and David Cave. The team joins from law firm Michelmores and will be based across Ashfords’ London and Exeter offices.
Partners Ben Hogan, David Cave and their team bring extensive experience advising on high-value, complex infrastructure projects. They have a particular focus on the management of operational PPP/PFI projects spanning sectors such as health, education, defence, and waste and resource management.
The team’s expertise enhances Ashfords’ existing capabilities, which support clients across infrastructure projects - including education, leisure, emergency services and healthcare - as well as environmental services covering energy and waste . Their track record includes advising across the full asset lifecycle, from construction and adjudication to accommodation management and distressed projects.
Recent work highlights from the Ashfords team include advising Pennon on the acquisitions of three ready-to-build solar projects generating 95MW of power p.a. and advising Bute Energy on the development and consenting of multiple onshore wind farms across Wales. The team also advises North Yorkshire Council and Viridor among others on significant waste PFI/PPP projects.
Brian Farrell, partner and head of commercial and IP at Ashfords, said: "Ben, David and the team bring an exceptional level of expertise in PPP, PFI and infrastructure projects, strengthening our existing ability to support clients operating across some of the most complex and highly regulated sectors. Their arrival aligns perfectly with our growth strategy and enhances the breadth and depth of services we can offer to public and private sector clients nationwide."
Ben adds: "We’re joining Ashfords at such an exciting time for the team and the firm. The strength of Ashfords’ commercial practice, combined with its national footprint and forward looking approach to client service, made it a natural home for our team. We look forward to joining the Ashfords team and contributing our experience to further support the firm’s growing portfolio of clients."
