UK law firm Ashfords has achieved its strongest-ever performance in Managing IP's IP STARS, a specialist guide of globally-recognised leading intellectual property (IP) lawyers and firms. Four lawyers have been recognised individually and the firm ranked as a ‘notable firm’ for trade mark prosecution.

Partner Clare Jackman and consultant Tom Phipps have both been ranked 'Trade mark stars', with Tom also recognised as a 'Patent star'. Senior associate Jenny Guild has been ranked as 'Notable practitioner', and associate Chris Fotheringham receives the ranking of 'Rising star'.

These results reflect the strength and depth of Ashfords’ intellectual property team, and its continued focus on helping clients protect and maximise the value of their IP assets.

IP partner Clare Jackman commented: “I’m delighted to be part of an IP team achieving its strongest‑ever IP STARS results. The individual rankings reflect our collective expertise, experience and the breadth of high‑calibre work the whole team contributes to. Thank you to our fantastic clients for the trust they place in us to protect and maximise the value of their IP, and for valuing our commercially focused, practical advice.”

With longstanding experience advising on all aspects of IP law, Ashfords’ intellectual property team comprises of a mix of solicitors and chartered trade mark attorneys. With over 70 years’ combined experience, the team is consistently recognised in leading directories, including the World Trademark Review 1000, where it has been ranked for six consecutive years.

The team has recently been involved in helping a high-profile client, in the luxury goods sector, search and clear its latest proposed trade marks for use and registration on an international scale, and advising in relation to protected traditional terms for wine. On the contentious side, whilst many disputes are successfully resolved, the team has been involved in others ranging from domain name disputes to defending a trade mark/breach of contract claim in the High Court, with suspected damages worth in the millions.
