The University of Plymouth’s Marine Institute is internationally recognised for its marine teaching and research, equipping students with the knowledge and expertise needed to address some of the most pressing challenges facing our oceans.

Support from Ashfords helps the institute offer bursaries to undergraduate students, giving them the opportunity to take part in placements, research and training opportunities that sit alongside their studies and build practical experience.

In the interview below, marine biology student Laura Whettingsteel shares how the Ashfords funded bursary enabled her to undertake an overseas placement in Zanzibar, where she worked with a marine conservation NGO on projects including marine education, dolphin behaviour research and sea turtle conservation.

Watch the interview to hear more about Laura's experience and the impact this opportunity has had on her studies and future plans.
