It was reported that the number of phishing attacks in the UK has increased 650% since the Coronavirus took a hold of the world. Bearing in mind that the issue of ‘phishing’ was a serious concern before the Coronavirus crisis, an increase of 650% is truly terrifying.
In these times of homeworking, where perhaps your guard can be down, it is more important than ever to be vigilant and to think twice before clicking on any link or file contained within an email and certainly never provide confidential details in response to an email.
Stop – take a moment to think – is this genuine?
Challenge – if you challenge most fraudsters will back off. Most genuine organisations will be patient.
Protect – if you think you’ve been a victim report it immediately to Action Fraud.
