Biography
Sophie is a senior associate in the real estate team, specialising in the residential development sector.
Sophie works with developers, promoters and landowners and advises on all aspects of development land matters. She is experienced in a wide range of transactions including the immediate and strategic acquisitions and disposals of development land, promotion agreements, and overage arrangements.
Sophie trained at an international law firm and has over 10 years’ experience in the housebuilding and development sector.
Relevant experience
- SME Housebuilder: Advising on the acquisition of brownfield land and simultaneous disposal to a housing association partner, subject to a development agreement for the delivery of the scheme.
- Promoter: Advising on the acquisition of approximately 130 acres of development land from a consortium of five landowners and entry into a joint venture agreement with a major housing association.
- Private Developer: Advising on an option agreement for the acquisition of land in Essex for a proposed development comprising up to 360 dwellings, a school, a sports pitch and commercial space, and an option to acquire an easement on neighbouring land to facilitate drainage to the proposed development.
- Joint Venture Project: Retained on an ongoing basis by the joint venture between a major PLC housebuilder and a local authority on the development of c.3,000 new homes. Advice covers all stages of the development lifecycle, including land drawdown, delivery of infrastructure, affordable housing disposals, and site set up for plot sales.
- Landowner: Acting for landowners in relation to the sale of their property to a residential care home provider, subject to planning, and the simultaneous acquisition of third party land required to facilitate access to the proposed development.
