Biography

Richard is a solicitor in the family team having trained at the firm since 2023.

Richard assists the team with private family law matters including divorce and financial remedy matters, private law children disputes and Family Law Act applications. He also assists in advising on non-contentious matters including the negotiation and drafting of pre and post-nuptial agreements.

Relevant experience

Divorce and financial settlement

Richard assists with a variety private family law matters including divorce and financial remedy settlements for high net worth individuals and professionals. He works with the team on complex cases where assets include complex military, NHS or other public sector pensions,  property portfolios and family businesses both large and small. 

Asset protection and future family planning

Richard advises private clients about asset protection including the negotiation and drafting of pre-nuptial (“prenups”) and post-nuptial as well as cohabitation agreements. He works closely with his colleagues in our trusts and estates and property litigation teams helping families plan for their future generations.

Child arrangements

Richard also assists with applications and court proceedings relating disputes between parents about child arrangements (commonly referred to as child custody). This might be to decide which parent a child should live with or disputes about holiday and term time contact, relocating a child or changing a child’s name or school. Richard also helps clients navigate the court process which many find daunting including where there are allegations of harm, financial control or domestic violence. He assists in preparing parenting plans and promotes a child focused approach to resolving family disputes.  

Richard studied at Nottingham Law School before undertaking his masters in legal practice at ULaw in Exeter. Prior to studying to law, Richard worked as an actor and theatre producer in London having trained at the Royal Academy of Music. He co-founded his own professional theatre company and his work continues to tour across the UK. He has also previously worked for the Ministry of Justice.
