Biography
Rachel is an associate in the banking & finance team. She advises both lenders and borrowers on a broad range of finance transactions. She divides her time between the Exeter and Bristol offices.
Rachel has both conventional and Islamic finance experience, having advised clients on a variety of international infrastructure and energy finance transactions, asset finance transactions and corporate finance transactions involving export credit agencies.
Rachel trained at a magic circle firm in London and upon qualification joined another magic circle firm in the United Arab Emirates. She was also an associate at K&L Gates in Dubai where she lived for 10 years. Rachel joined Ashfords in 2025 after a career break to raise her young family.
Relevant experience
Rachel's previous experience includes advising:
- the lender syndicate in relation to a US$97mn financing facility to establish a steel foundry in the UAE;
- a Qatari Islamic financial institution in relation to a EUR41mn murabaha refinancing granted to an Austrian industrial company;
- an Abu Dhabi based bank in relation to a US$100mn term loan facility;
- the lenders in relation to a SAR7.2bn refinancing of an international airline for its existing portfolio of 26 aircraft;
- the ECAs and commercial lenders in relation to a refinery project in Turkey;
- an investment management firm in relation to a US$22mn term loan facility; and
- an investment company in relation to a term loan facility to a Cayman entity guaranteed by a UAE based healthcare provider.
