Biography

Martin is a Legal Director and SRA Regulated Solicitor in the Residential & Rural Property Team. He has over 15 years' experience in residential conveyancing, advising clients on a wide range of residential sale, purchase and remortgage transactions. Martin has been qualified for 19 years.

Martin deals with an extensive case load whilst acting on behalf of wide range of clients in respect of residential sales, purchases, remortgages, transfer of equity, purchase of new builds, and deeds of covenant. Martin deals with the sale and purchase of Shared Ownership properties.

Martin qualified as a Solicitor in 1999 and worked for a Somerset law firm for 13 years before joining Ashfords' Residential Property Team in 2011.

Relevant experience

  • Private client: Acting for a private client in the sale of property in Bridgwater. Having to resolve incorrectly registered title with Land Registry in order to sell, involving the reconstituting of title from lost title deeds when other local solicitors were not able to do this.
  • Various private clients: Acting on Shared Ownership sales and purchases with simultaneous staircasing transactions.
  • Various private clients: Advising on wide range of residential sales and purchases of properties ranging in value from £40,000 leasehold flats to £1.5 million mansions.
  • Private clients: Advising clients on sale of property where there is an ongoing access dispute, in liaison with colleagues in the Property Litigation Team.
  • Private client: Acting in sale of property where seller had failed to disclose before completion that there was a sitting tenant, and negotiating with the buyers and seller to reach a mutually acceptable agreement.
