Biography
George is an associate in the Construction team with experience across the energy, utilities, commercial development, housing, transport, and waste sectors.
He has advised a broad range of clients, including developers, contractors, SMEs, funders, and local and national government agencies. George has particular experience advising on the development of renewable energy projects.
Prior to joining Ashfords, George trained at Burges Salmon, qualifying and working in the Construction and Engineering department. Following this, he practiced in New Zealand for a year, where he advised on the development of several wind and solar farms.
Relevant experience
- Harmony Energy: Advising on the development of of Tauhei Solar Farm on the North Island of New Zealand. This project was New Zealand's largest solar farm to achieve financial close at 202 MWp. George assisted with the negotiation and drafting of the EPC and O&M Contracts, as well as the broader completion process.
- Mercury NZ: Advising on the delivery of Kaiwaikawe Wind Farm in Northland, New Zealand, which will generate 77 MW of power. George helped by negotiating and drafting the transmission line agreement and also assisting with the O&M Contract.
- Developers: Advising on residential and commercial development matters for both private and public sector clients. George helped by drafting and negotiating JCT, NEC, and bespoke forms of building contract; professional appointments; sub-contracts, and ancillary documents.
- SAF Plant Developer: Advising a clean energy company on the development of a household waste to sustainable aviation fuel plant. George assisted by drafting and helping to negotiate professional appointments, and by providing general advice to the client.
- Funders and Banks: Advising on the due diligence aspects of residential, student accommodation, care home and hotel developments for lenders. George has experience reviewing building contracts, professional appointments, and ancillary construction documents, as well as producing risk reports.
