Biography

Emma is an Associate in the Property Disputes Team.

Emma has experience in dealing with a wide range of contentious landlord and tenant matters, including breach of covenant, housing disrepair, dilapidations and possession claims. This includes local authorities, registered providers, private companies and private individuals.

Prior to joining the Property Disputes team, Emma completed her training contract with Ashfords LLP undertaking six-month seats in Restructuring and Insolvency, Commercial Property and Property Litigation assisting the teams in a range of contentious and non-contentious matters.

Prior to starting her training contract with Ashfords LLP, Emma worked as a Paralegal in the Commercial Property Department for a regional law firm in Plymouth where she advised both corporate and private clients on a range of property transactions, particularly focusing on franchise expansion and property development.

Emma studied Law at Keele University and completed her LPC at BPP University in Bristol. As part of her degree Emma spent half a year at the University of Ottawa in Canada where she studied a range of Canadian Jurisprudence.

  • Local authority: Assisting with defending forfeiture claims on the basis of dilapidations and rent review.
  • Housing association: Assisting with defending claims for housing disrepair and statutory nuisance under the Environmental Protection Act 1990.
