Biography

Lizzie is a Solicitor in the Property Disputes Team.

Lizzie qualified as a Solicitor in May 2021 having trained at Ashfords. Since joining the team, Lizzie has developed a broad practice area in residential and commercial property matters. Lizzie has gained particular experience with disrepair and EPA (nuisance) claims, residential possession and recovery of rent, commercial rent and service charge disputes and enforcement including Torts Act matters. Lizzie is also building her practice in relation to disputes over Common Land and adverse possession matters.

Lizzie completed her Law Degree at Plymouth University and obtained LLM in Immigration Law and Practice at the University of Law in Bristol.

Relevant experience

  • Acting for a Local Authority in pre-action and litigated property disrepair and EPA statutory nuisance claims.
  • Successfully enforcing substantial money judgment for Local Authority by way of charging order and subsequent Order for Sale of Property (planning breach).
  • Successfully obtaining possession of a number of flats required for re-development. Possession obtained via the accelerated s.21 and s.8 procedure. 
  • Advising and settling a prescriptive easement and parking dispute relating to a large commercial premises. 
  • Advising a Parish Council on the use of Common Land, namely by advising on the potential trespassing and damage to Common Land by a third party. 
  • Individual client: Successfully obtaining possession of a large commercial industrial unit by serving a Notice to Quit, and subsequent Tort Act Notice to facilitate vacant possession. 
  • Successfully obtaining Judgment for a substantial rent arrears and service charge claim (circa £200,000), following a Defence and Counterclaim. Obtaining a full recovery of the Debt and client’s costs.
