The Protection of Wrecks Order 2018

13.02.18

The Protection of Wrecks (Designation) (England) Order 2018 (SI 2018/96) designates a restricted area, under the Protection of Wrecks Act 1973, around the wreck site of Rooswijk, a Dutch East India Company vessel that sank on the Goodwin Sands in January 1740. The Order adjusts the position of the restricted area and extends its radius to include archaeological material believed to now lie outside of the previous restricted area, revoking the Protection of Wrecks (Designation) (England) Order 2007, which designated the previous restricted area surrounding the wreck site.

The Order will come into force on 23 February 2018.
