Leading law firm Ashfords LLP has chosen Parkinson’s UK as their 2016 Charity of the Year.

Parkinson’s UK were voted as the firm's Charity of the Year, which was decided by the firm’s employees.

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition which affects one person in every 500, that's about 127,000 people in the UK.

Ashfords’ staff have set themselves a target of £75,000, and will be raising funds for Parkinson’s UK’s confidential helpline. The helpline provides a lifeline to people living with Parkinson’s and those who support them. Every pound raised by Ashfords will be matched, doubling the fundraising total at the end of 2016.

Ashfords' Charity Committee will be led by Partner Mark Manning.

Mark Manning commented: "Our staff voted for Parkinson's UK as Charity of the Year for 2016, and we are delighted to be supporting such a fantastic charity which makes a real difference by supporting people with Parkinson's. We have a lot of exciting fundraising initiatives lined up for 2016 and look forward to seeing how our efforts can help benefit the charity".

Paul Jackson-Clark, Director of Fundraising at Parkinson’s UK, adds: "Our corporate partnerships are extremely important to us. We are delighted that Ashfords have chosen us as their charity for this year, and we look forward to hearing all about their exciting fundraising plans.

We will be working closely with the Charity Committee and Ashfords’ staff to ensure that they have all the information about the work that we do, and tools they might need from us, to make it a year to remember for all concerned".
