EIOPA guidelines on cloud outsourcing not applicable to regulated activities in the UK

09.07.20

The FCA has confirmed that the guidelines on outsourcing to cloud service providers for insurance and reinsurance undertakings ("Guidelines") published on 6 February 2020 by the European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) are not applicable to regulated activities within the UK’s jurisdiction as the Guidelines will only become effective after the end of the Brexit transition period.

The FCA FG16/5 Guidance for firms outsourcing to the cloud and other third-party IT services in the UK will continue to apply.
