Ashfords LLP has strengthened its Corporate team with the hire of Jocelyn Ormond, who joined as a partner at the firm’s Bristol office on 11th November.

Jocelyn was previously a partner at Simmons & Simmons and previously worked at another international firm and two magic circle firms. His appointment is a key hire for Ashfords and further strengthens the firm’s nationally recognised Technology and Venture Capital teams. He will be leading the firm’s focus on healthcare, augmenting its existing experience and expertise in this area and developing the digital health practice.

Jocelyn spent the first 10 years of his career at Slaughter and May and Allen & Overy. At Simmons & Simmons, he co-led the firm’s cross-border Digital Health group, and has regularly advised private equity, venture capital and other funds, and public and private companies on mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, minority investments, equity fundraisings and other strategic corporate and commercial transactions. He has extensive experience of advising on international transactions.

Jocelyn has wide sector experience, but particular knowledge and insight in relation to the health & social care and life sciences industries, with a strong focus on digital health as well as fintech and wider technology opportunities. He is recognised by Legal 500 UK 2020 and 2019 for his expertise in healthcare, private equity, venture capital and AIM transactions and has previously been recognised by the legal directories for his experience in mergers & acquisitions, particularly for healthcare and life sciences clients.

Chris Dyson, Partner, Head of the Technology sector and Bristol office said: “We are thrilled that Jocelyn is joining Ashfords to complement the firm’s proficiency in the Technology sector. Jocelyn’s wide-ranging experience as well as expertise in the healthcare sector makes him the perfect addition and we look forward to collaborating with him on growing Ashfords’ digital health offering.”

Jocelyn Ormond added: I am looking forward to joining Ashfords, who are well-known in the Technology Sector and Venture Capital space for their high calibre advice, and I am excited to work with new colleagues in Bristol, the City and other offices on developing the firm's digital health and wider healthcare offering, cementing their existing expertise in this area.”
