Ashfords LLP promotes new Solicitor in Corporate Team

Law firm Ashfords LLP is delighted to announce the promotion of Liam Trevethan to a Solicitor in the firm's Corporate Team in its Plymouth office.

Previously a Chartered Legal Executive, Liam’s promotion as a Solicitor endorses Ashfords' corporate offering. Liam has qualified to a Solicitor through an alternative route.

After graduating in Law at Plymouth University in 2011, Liam worked as a private hire taxi driver in Plymouth for two years to fund his Legal Practice Course, which he commenced in 2012 at Plymouth University. Liam completed his studies the following year, and started working for a solicitors in Plymouth, Fursdon Knapper, before moving to Nottingham in early 2014 to work for a lettings agents legal team.

In September 2014 Liam returned to Plymouth and started working for Ashfords LLP as a corporate and commercial paralegal.

As a newly qualified Solicitor at Ashfords Liam now advises companies, partnerships and private individuals on reorganisations, constitutional amendments and asset and share purchases.

Liam has extensive experience in reviewing corporate and commercial contracts and has worked with Ashfords’ Commercial and Public Sector departments on various transactions. In addition, Liam regularly works on equity crowdfunding matters, where he advises on constitutional amendments and corporate structuring.

Liam also provides valuable support to Ashfords’ Intellectual Property, Commercial and Commercial Property Teams as and when it is required.

An active member of the Ashfords’ Foundation Committee and Wellbeing representative for the Plymouth office, Liam’s responsibilities include representing the Plymouth office at committee meetings, ensuring the office is well informed about all Ashfords’ Foundation initiatives as well as organising ‘Wellbeing’ and fundraising events for the Plymouth office.

Ashfords’ highly respected Corporate team assists companies of varying sizes across a range of corporate transactions. The team work with businesses from entrepreneurial start-ups to major international organisations, advising on corporate transactions, including M&A, reorganisations, venture capital, cross-border transactions, private equity investments, IPOs and joint ventures and restructurings.

Liam Trevethan added: “I began my legal career at Ashfords’ in September 2014 where I started as a Paralegal in the Corporate team. With Ashfords’ encouragement and full support I qualified as a Chartered Legal Executive in July 2018 and I am very proud to have now cross-qualified as a Solicitor.

I am honoured to be continuing to develop my legal career in the Corporate team at Ashfords’, which has an excellent reputation on a local, regional and national level.

I am looking forward to embracing this new challenge and working with the Plymouth team to help build on its achievements, whilst developing strong connections with clients and referrers to assist in the growth of Ashfords’ Corporate presence in the region.”
