On 5 February 2020, XYBC members donned their boiler suits for a few exhilarating hours of high-speed Go-Kart racing. After a quick 5 minute round to build their confidence in driving the karts, the real competition began. The two qualification rounds were rapid with the second round racers all reaching 30 seconds or under per lap.
Following a break fuelled by plenty of pizza, the final races begun – a quick 10 lap round with the winner taking pride of place at the top of the podium. The first group, feeling the pressure to race their best race, caused chaos on the track with the stewards commenting that they didn’t think there’d been even one clear lap. The fastest racers went flying into the second group leading to a thrilling and fast final race, with Wayne Bastian taking first place, Will Roose taking second and Luke Venner taking third.
Congratulations to all the racers taking part in what was a fun-packed and adrenaline-fuelled evening. It was yet another fantastic opportunity to meet and catch up with other young professionals in the area.
