Housing supply hits highest levels for 30 years, but caution advised

This is, of course, encouraging news but there is clearly a long way to go in terms of creating a housing market which delivers what the country needs - not only in terms of numbers but also affordability, quality, mix location etc.

Much of this will come down to having genuine support for new development in the planning system, as well as ensuring that Local Authorities' planning teams are adequately resourced to deal with the volume of applications which they are being asked to consider.
