Biography

Tom is a Solicitor in the Commercial and Intellectual Property Team.

Tom provides expert advice on a wide range of commercial and technology legal issues, helping clients, whether they are start-ups or PLCs, to meet their strategic and day-to-day commercial goals. 

Tom has strong experience across general advisory matters, as well as legal project work through helping clients drive transformational change through innovative data-sharing projects.  

Prior to joining Ashfords, Tom trained at a Cheltenham-based firm and has gained strong experience in the technology sector. Tom's training also allowed him to advise on several tech contract disputes, allowing him to give clients practical and holistic advice when advising upon and drafting their contracts. 

Outside of work, Tom is a Committee Member of the Cheltenham and Gloucester Junior Lawyers Division and Mentor at two mentoring organisations, GROW and Bridging Barriers, both with social inclusion and social mobility at their core.

Relevant experience

  • International fashion retailer: took a leading role in advising one of the largest British fashion retailers on their supply chain compliance.
  • Industry bodies: advised upon numerous innovative data sharing projects helping to drive transformational change to various industries, including the rail sector.
  • International manufacturer: advised the Claimant in a breach of contract and and registered / unregistered design right infringement claim in the Intellectual Property and Enterprise Court.
  • App developer: advised on various different types of terms and conditions including end-user licence terms and conditions and website terms and conditions.
  • Manufacturer and distributor: advising on various IP licence agreements (including patent, trade mark and know-how licences).
