Biography

Stephanie joined Ashfords in 2024 and is an associate in the family team specialising in a varied workload across a wide spectrum of family law. She has worked in family law since 2017, initially gaining experience in public family law, later qualifying as a solicitor in 2021 specialising in private family law.

Stephanie advises clients on cases both in and outside Court, dealing with a broad range of matters including:

  • Divorce and matrimonial finances
  • Relationship breakdown
  • Cohabitation agreements 
  • Disputes regarding child arrangements
  • Complex children act proceedings 
  • Protective injunctions for applicants and respondents

Stephanie represents and advises parents and other family members in all aspects of private law children disputes both in and out of the court arena. Stephanie assists clients involved in Finding of Fact hearings, applications to the court in respect of child arrangement orders, removal from the jurisdiction, change of name, parental responsibility and schooling. Additionally, Stephanie engages in advocacy within proceedings under the Children Act. 

Stephanie also represents clients in injunctive proceedings, either securing orders for protection or advocating for respondents named in the application.

In addition, Stephanie deals with traditional financial disputes for divorcing couples as well as financial remedy proceedings. Stephanie also provides support and guidance to clients who are either entering into a relationship or experiencing the dissolution of a relationship for couples who are not legally married, offering advice on cohabitation agreements as well as separation agreements.

Adopting a commercial and pragmatic perspective, Stephanie takes pride in assisting clients during what can be a challenging and stressful period, with the objective of leading them towards a positive outcome. Stephanie's resolution focused approach assists clients in reaching the best possible outcome whilst also being considerate of costs. She was shortlisted for the Bristol Law Society Junior Lawyer of the Year 2021.

  • Children matter: Acting for a father in respect of children act proceedings to achieve a shared care arrangement including holidays and special occasions 
  • Children matter: Representing a vulnerable client in contested children act proceedings whereby a children's guardian was appointment 
  • Children matter: Acting for a mother in protracted and highly contested children act proceedings 
  • Children matter: Acting for an intervenor named in children act proceedings involving a Finding of Fact hearing  
  • Children matter: Applying for a parental responsibility order for a father not named on the child's birth certificate 
  • Financial matter: Out of court negotiations regarding the settlement of matrimonial finances to achieve a fair outcome for the client 
  • Financial matter: Advising a client involved in financial remedy proceedings involving a gift received from a family member.
  • Cohabitation agreement: Acting for a partner wishing to enter into a cohabitation agreement in order to protect inherited assets.
  • Separation agreement: Drafting and implementing a separation agreement to ensure that the division of assets following the breakdown of a relationship was accurately recorded providing finality and security for the client.
