Biography

Jonathan is an Associate in the Banking & Finance team.

Jonathan advises on non-contentious banking and finance transactions, which includes advising lenders or borrowers on the terms of finance agreements and supporting security, both for general financing, acquisition finance, refinancings and property and development finance.

Prior to joining Ashfords, Jonathan carried out a public service based internship in Brussels before working for a Magic Circle law firm in its compliance department.

Jonathan graduated in 2010 with an LLB in Common & Civil Law with French from Queen's University, Belfast. This involved a 12 month exchange programme studying French Law at Université Jean Moulin in Lyon, France.

Relevant experience

  • Homes England: Acting for the client in respect of its secured lending transactions under the Levelling Up Home Building Fund.
  • Exeter Finance Limited: Acting for the client on its provision of loans to a number of borrowers, primarily for property acquisition and development facilities.
  • High net worth borrower: Assisting on a £31 million refinancing by a high net worth borrower of its London property portfolio with HSBC Bank plc.
  • High street lender: Acting for a high street lender putting in place security for a £9m overdraft facility with its customer acting in the agricultural sector.
  • Property developer: Assisting on a transaction for a property developer client in obtaining £5.5 million from Arbuthnot Latham & Co. Limited in order to assist in the purchase and development of prime London real estate into residential accommodation.
  • Recycling, renewable energy and waste management company: Assisting with the preparation of a £5.5 million facility agreement and associated security to fund the construction and operation of a plastic recycling plant as part of a joint venture between this client and a third party.
  • High street lender: Acting on a transaction for a high street lender client on a refinancing worth £4.25 million to its trust management customer.
  • CBILS/CLBILS: Acting for both lender and borrower clients on loans under these government backed schemes.
