Biography

Christopher is an Associate in the Construction and Infrastructure team, specialising in resolving complex construction disputes.

Christopher works with developers and contractors to give advice on how to quickly and commercially resolve disputes, including by litigation, adjudication, and arbitration, as well as forms of alternative dispute resolution (ADR). He has particular experience advising in respect of professional negligence and defective cladding claims.

Prior to joining Ashfords in mid-2024, Christopher practised with the largest law firm in Ireland, working on some of the largest and most high-profile projects in both Ireland and Northern Ireland. He is dual-qualified, being admitted to the roll of solicitors in Northern Ireland, and continues to represent Northern Irish clients with interests in England and Wales.

Relevant experience

  • Advising public sector body in respect of fire safety claims against its architect arising from the re-cladding of a high-rise residential block.
  • Advising a national housing authority in respect of the management of 90+ claims and adjudications across multiple contracts with one contractor.
  • Acting for a national developer in respect of a c.£13m professional negligence claim against its architect on a housing scheme in London. 
  • Advising a public sector body in respect of the application of NEC contract terms following proceedings in the Court of Appeal in Northern Ireland. 
  • Acting for a homebuilder in the semi-distressed restructure of its £120m development finance portfolio, following its default in respect of the same.
