19.06.20

The UK Information Commissioners Office is calling for a new code of practice to be implemented governing extraction of mobile phone data by police forces, following an investigation into current practice and processes which highlights inconsistencies.

Although in the public sector, there will be themes emerging that will apply more broadly to processing of sensitive personal data for private sector companies. Of note at this time is a reminder to all to ensure the basic data protection ,principles are being adhered to and to ensure that as well as having a legal basis to do so, there is an up to date policy document in place together with training to personnel where sensitive personal data is handled.
