Jockeys were unhappy after being given 'two-day ban'

First published in The Times by Alan Lee on 7th April 2014.

The Professional Jockeys' Association have instructed Ashfords partner Rory Mac Neice to represent them at a hearing with the British Horseracing Authority ("BHA"). The hearing results from animosity between stewards and jockeys regarding the starting procedures at the Grand National.

Following the false start at the "biggest race of the year" two day suspensions were imposed on jockeys. Thirty nine jockeys refused to attend the inquiry. Anger is understood to result from the decision not taking into account jockeys opinion. The hearing is due this month with the BHA.
