Relevant Experience
  • Advising a technology provider on a number of bespoke arrangements with one of the UK’s largest chicken producers in which the technology provider designs, funds and installs the micro-district heating and ventilation systems. Each installation site had a capital value in the region of £1.5m and was intended to improve the welfare of the poultry as well as reducing fuel and input costs. 
  • Advising a business on the expansion of its farm shop hut to an nationally recognised and award-winning “food hub” and retail outlet with on-site butcher, fishmonger, baker, deli, restaurant and retail units. 
  • Purchase of a farm and the refinancing of the home farm, advising on matters such as lotting, third party rights, disputed easements, partnership and future development issues, with a capital value of approximately £3m. 
  • Advising a caravan site operator with approximately 600 pitches, in its application for a 500 home development, including the rationalisation of caravan site licences. 
  • Advising in relation to the restructuring and refinancing of a major UK food producer to improve costs and profits transparency between different elements of the farming enterprise. 
  • Working on the design, build, property arrangements, maintenance, operation and off-take arrangements for several anaerobic digestion facilities sponsored by Ixora Energy Ltd and two funders. The projects are expected to produce 18 MW of energy with a capital value of £30m. A number of the facilities are exporting biogas to the grid. 
  • Advising a poultry farmer on the purchase of a biomass boiler system under which the technology provider undertakes to design, fund and install the installation attached to poultry sheds (with back-up supply), in order to increase profitability through a reduction in the costs of fuel and feed. 
  • Advising a farmer who was the subject of a freezing injunction obtained by his trustee in bankruptcy, negotiating a voluntary arrangement with creditors so that the farmer avoided bankruptcy and preserved the farming business as a going concern. 
  • Advising a business offering the design, installation and maintenance of biomass heating solutions on its suite of standard documentation (such as separate standard terms and conditions for domestic and business customers, service agreements and website use conditions) as well as employment and debt recovery advice.
