Chris is a Senior Associate in the Commercial Team and Head of Data Protection and Privacy.
Chris specialises in data protection and privacy, regularly advising clients on national and international data protection matters. Chris advises clients on the full spectrum of data protection matters including international data transfers, breach response, cookies, profiling and general compliance.
Chris regularly provides commentary on data protection including articles in the FT and Telegraph. Chris is a board member of the SCL South West Group and he regularly speaks on data protection, most recently he spoke at the ICOs Data Protection Practitioners Conference.
Chris is a commercial lawyer in the technology sector with extensive experience in advising on IT outsourcing, software licensing, maintenance and development agreements, and the provision of software and hardware for a range of deployment models including, cloud, SaaS and on premise.
Chris has advised on a number of successful smart metering infrastructural projects and he also has experience in advising on a number of large IT outsourcing projects.
Chris has extensive experience in providing contractual and data protection advice to a leading global point of care diagnostics company. Chris has also acted for UK based pharmaceutical services company including advising on their Qualified Person release projects.
Chris acts for suppliers and business consumers of information technology within both the public and private sector.
- Sensus UK Systems Limited:Advising Sensus on all aspects of Sensus' successful bid in partnership with Arqiva for the Thames Water smart metering network.This will involve the rollout of smart water meters to all Thames customers.
- Creditcall Limited: Assisting Creditcall on its continued expansions in the USA including a strategically important payment gateway deal with one of the leading providers of payment solutions in a particular sector.
- Thames Water Utilities Limited: Advising Thames Water on Thames' procurement of new suppliers for application development and systems integration work. Thames awarded framework agreements to several suppliers. The successful suppliers will be responsible for implementing new business applications and associated processes, undertake major changes to current and legacy applications and deliver associated infrastructure solutions across the Thames Water business.
- Post Office Limited: Advising the Post Office on a broad range of commercial agreements and data protection matters including advising on the separation of a number of licences for software and associated application and systems support following a group re-structure and separation of group companies; and advising on the data protection compliance in relation to a secret shopper campaign.
Sensus USA Inc: Advising Sensus on its successful collaboration with Arqiva for the roll out of smart meters across the North of the UK. The contract will see over 10,000,000 users in the North of the UK have their gas and electricity meters swapped for smart meters.Understanding the complex technology involved was essential to provide comprehensive advice.
