Yana Goutsal



Yana is a Paralegal in the Disputed Wills and Trusts Team.

Yana is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives and assists the team in advising private individuals, charities and trustees in relation to all aspects of contentious trust and estate administrations; including Will disputes and Inheritance Act claims, legacy disputes and claims for the removal of executors and trustees as well as related professional negligence claims. She also assists on contentious Court of Protection matters.

Prior to joining Ashfords, Yana worked as a Paralegal in a firm in the South West of England dealing with a range of civil litigation matters including contentious probate, professional negligence, landlord and tenant disputes and recovery of debt.

Yana also has a wealth of experience and brings best practices from her background in complaint resolution which she acquired while she worked for a Big Six energy supplier in Devon and a local authority in London.  


Relevant experience

  • Various clients: Dealing with a range of Will disputes and testamentary claims including Will validity claims on the grounds of capacity, due execution and undue influence.
  • Various private clients: Assisting on claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 which include estranged children, adopted children and unmarried couples.
  • Private client: Assisting with an Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975 claim brought by a minor (via the child's mother as his litigation friend) against his father's estate who died intestate (i.e. without a valid will).  The claim was complicated by the fact that the deceased's paternity was disputed.
