Jeremy is a Senior Associate in the Business Risk and Regulation Team.
A regulatory specialist with 20 years' experience of dealing with serious and high profile cases, Jeremy Asher's practice now concentrates on two key areas.
Jeremy heads our Fraud and Business Crime Team which has been top-ranked by Legal 500 for the past 3 years. Over the years, Jeremy has successfully defended many company directors and professionals against cases brought by, among others, the SFO, CPS and HMRC, regularly involving millions of pounds. In such cases, Jeremy often puts forward complicated challenges on behalf of both domestic and international clients.
In relation to Environment Jeremy is regarded as "As good a lawyer as any in the field" by Legal 500. He has acted in many of the highest profile environmental cases in recent times, including bringing a private prosecution in the famous Somerset levels flooding case, and he defended the first pollution case to result in a million pound fine under the new environmental sentencing guidelines. Jeremy regularly represents farmers and landowners charged with offences or who require regulatory advice.
A recurring theme in Jeremy's practice is reputation management, whether that is: by carefully crafting mitigation to protect professional reputations; by bringing private prosecutions to act as a deterrent; in urgent disaster management; or frequently by working to ensure that cases do not receive any publicity at all.
Jeremy has a proven record in bringing private prosecutions which can be used to protect business interests and he frequently speaks in public on the subject - see his LinkedIn profile for more details.
Jeremy is a member of the Association of Regulatory & Disciplinary Lawyers, The Fraud Advisory Panel, and the Private Prosecutors' Association.
He is also a member of Devon and Somerset Law Society's Contentious Business Sub-Committee.
Noted for his wealth of experience, commercial and proactive approach, and excellent client care.
