Law firm Ashfords LLP has bolstered its Financial Services team with the hire of Legal Director Cynthia Ma. Cynthia joined the firm’s London office on 07 October.
Cynthia’s appointment reflects Ashfords’ continued growth and expansion of its offering and expertise.
Previously at Simmons & Simmons, Cynthia trained at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer and is educated to PhD level. An expert in financial services regulation, structured finance and fintech, Cynthia has extensive knowledge of financial products and operational processes as well as legal and regulatory issues concerning the trading and product lifecycles, operations and management of financial institutions.
Prior to joining Ashfords, Cynthia was seconded to the legal department of MUFG for 14 months to advise on MiFID II (research and inducements, product governance and trading venues), CRD IV and CRR topics, as well as Brexit-related regulatory issues. Cynthia was also previously in-house as general counsel at MarketInvoice.
