Surf Living Saving GB National Surf Championships return for third successive year

August will see the return to Exmouth for the third successive year of Surf Life Saving GB National Surf Championships hosted by Exmouth Beach Rescue Club starting with competition for the over 30 age group on the 6th and 7th, the up to age 18 will be held on the 9th and 10th concluding with the Nippers Surf Championship age 7 to 13 on the 12th and 13th.  Over 1,100 competitors are expected for the 6 days of competition.

National law firm Ashfords LLP is proud to sponsor the National Youth and Masters Surf Championships being held between 6th and 10th August 2016.

Ashfords is also sponsoring the newly created Masters "Champion" of the Year award, which will recognise outstanding sportsmanship, consistent demonstration of the spirit of competitive values representing the traditions of Life Saving, outstanding contribution to the event, outstanding performance and supporting everyone involved during the event.

Supported by South West Water, the Nippers Surf Championship will be the largest group with top South West clubs contesting the overall team award.

SLSGB is a National Search and Rescue Charity.  Life Saving Sport is built around the exacting demands of aquatic life saving presenting a truly multi-disciplined competition with close ties to swimming, athletics, kayaking, rowing and surfing – All elements of the competition are part of the real lifesaving activity – All demonstrate the core skills needed to save a life – All are part of the race to get to a casualty who may drown if that race is lost.

Exmouth 2016 promises close competition and the most enthralling and entertaining spectator experience from the explosive beach races to the highest quality open water swimming.  The confidence and fearless ability demonstrated by the Nippers is a must see
