South West Business' take on Burgh Island in a Swimming Challenge for Charity

The Ashfords LLP Burgh Island Swim Challenge will be taking place on Sunday, 13 September 2015.

The challenge is to swim around Burgh Island, a small island situated across the beach from Bigbury-on-Sea in South Devon, to raise money for three great charities; Mind, Surf Life Saving GB and Exeter Foundation.

Anyone who has not experienced the thrill of an open water swim can undertake a 50 meter swim under the guidance of Cassie Patten, open water swimming Olympic medallist. This exciting opportunity will be open to all ages and swimmers with little or no open water swimming experience. The swimmers will be carefully watched by the Bantham Surf Life Saving Club, who are overseeing the water safety for the main swim.

The Ashfords Burgh Island Swim challenge has already attracted corporate teams from companies such as the Santander, Sweett Group, Cavanna Homes, Alder King, Centrax, Redrow Homes, Savills and Thomson Reuters. The Ashfords Team will be led by Partner Graham Cridland and joined by Chris Bentley from Exeter Chiefs.

Graham Cridland, Partner at Ashfords LLP, commented:

"This exciting event has attracted the support of a number of local suppliers including Chunk of Devon, Burts Crisps, Pavey Group and St Austell Brewery - all of which are donating produce to be supplied to the swimmers. We would like to thank all of our supporters, Bantham Surf Life Saving Club and Cassie Patten. We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the day."
