While the rest of us are vaguely considering the uninviting prospect of renewing our gym membership for 2016, Ashfords Partner Andrew Rothwell will be donning his finest Lycra for a spectacular charity cycling attempt.
In a bid to support both their favourite rugby team and a worthy charity, a group of avid Exeter Chiefs fans have organised the European Cycle Challenge. The route will take them from Sandy Park in Exeter to the Stade Chaban-Delmas in Bordeaux by bicycle. Punctures permitting, they will be arriving just in time to watch the premiership Exeter side play Bordeaux in the European Champions Cup on Saturday 16 January.
The cyclists will be averaging 80-90 miles per day for 6 days and will clock up a daunting total of 487 miles. Sponsors are generously supporting the challenge and will provide the cyclists with food and drink and, rather vitally, a support vehicle.
Andrew and the rest of the group will be raising money for the Chiefs' charity of choice, the Exeter Foundation, which raises funds for local projects and causes here in Exeter. Andrew's fundraising page can located by clicking here.
We would gratefully welcome any support you can show Andrew, making all those wet and windy December training rides worthwhile.
