Inheritance Tax - one in four estates subject to investigation by HMRC

A recent Freedom of Information request by Quilter has found that in the 2018/19 tax year, of those estates that were liable to Inheritance Tax (just over 22,000) just over 25% (being 5,537) were investigated by HMRC.

It highlights the complexity and complications involved with Inheritance Tax and the onus that is placed on Executors whose responsibility this will be.:
